BCCI calls Gautam Gambhir, Ajit Agarkar, and VVS Laxman for a review meeting on India's recent cricket struggles
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has summoned head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and Centre of Excellence head VVS Laxman to a review meeting at its Mumbai headquarters on September 3, 2026. The meeting aims to analyze India's overseas performance, which included series losses to Ireland (2-0) and England (4-0) in T20 Internationals, where the team failed to win any of six matches. Discussions will also focus on future plans, including the 2027 ODI World Cup preparations, player fitness, injury management, and workload concerns, especially regarding key players like Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. The tenure of chief selector Ajit Agarkar and Hardik Pandya's bowling fitness are also expected to be evaluated during the meeting. India is scheduled to begin its Afghanistan T20I series from September 13, 2026.
