Brian Bennett Scores Century on Test Captaincy Debut, Surpassing Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi
Zimbabwe captain Brian Bennett scored a century on Day 2 of the first Test against Afghanistan at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on November 6, 2026, in his first match as captain. At 22 years and 360 days, he became the sixth-youngest captain to score a Test century, joining an elite group including Graeme Smith and Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi. Bennett scored 128 runs off 206 balls before being dismissed, helping Zimbabwe build a strong first-innings total of 504. He received strong support from Brendan Taylor, who also scored a century. Zimbabwe currently ranks 10th in ICC Test rankings but is not part of the World Test Championship as only the top nine teams qualify.
