Chinmay Sutar becomes second player to score 400 runs in Ranji Trophy history
Chinmay Sutar, playing for Mizoram as a guest player in his second First-Class match, scored a historic 400* off 517 balls against Nagaland in the Ranji Trophy 2026-27. His innings included 46 fours and seven sixes, marking the second-highest individual score in Ranji Trophy history, surpassing Prithvi Shaw's 379. Sutar joins Bhausaheb Nimbalkar as the only players to have scored a quadruple century in this tournament, with Nimbalkar holding the record of 443* scored in 1948. Sutar’s performance helped Mizoram reach 581/9, featuring a record-breaking 190-run unbeaten last-wicket partnership with Lalrempunia Chhakchhuak, which is the third-highest in Ranji Trophy history. Before this, Sutar had represented Mumbai and obtained a No Objection Certificate to play for Mizoram this season.
