Former Ireland cricketer Simi Singh retires after notable international career
Simi Singh, a former Ireland international cricketer, has announced his retirement from professional cricket. Singh, who moved from India to Ireland at 19, debuted for Ireland in 2017 and played 90 times until 2022. He set a world record with a century batting at number eight against South Africa and took 85 wickets in ODIs, with a best bowling of 5-10 against UAE. Singh also played in Ireland's 2022 T20 World Cup games after incorporating leg spin later in his career. He underwent a life-saving liver transplant in 2024 and has since recovered. Ireland head coach Gary Wilson praised Singh's dedication and wished him well for the future.
