Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly close to hiring former England off-spinner Gareth Batty as their batting coach ahead of the IPL 2027 season. The 49-year-old, currently head coach of Surrey who has helped the team win three consecutive County Championships, shares a good rapport with CSK's head coach Zaheer Khan, a connection from their county cricket days. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed ongoing negotiations and said an announcement could happen soon. Batty has represented England internationally and has had a distinguished domestic career with over 260 First-Class matches. Meanwhile, CSK-owned Joburg Super Kings face a setback as Kieron Pollard has withdrawn from the upcoming SA20 season after being promoted to head coach of Mumbai Indians for IPL 2027.
