Joe Root Becomes First English Batter to Reach 8,000 Runs in ODI Cricket
Joe Root has made history as the first English batsman to score 8,000 runs in One Day International (ODI) cricket. He achieved this milestone during the third match of the ODI Tri-Series against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Pakistan, scoring the runs in his 197th ODI. Root also surpassed 23,000 international runs across all formats, joining an elite group that includes Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. At the No.3 position in ODIs, Root holds an outstanding record with over 5,400 runs at an average above 53. He has scored 20 centuries and 48 half-centuries in ODIs for England, making him one of the team's most reliable batsmen since his debut in 2013.
