Joe Weatherley signs new contract with Hampshire until 2028
Hampshire cricketer Joe Weatherley has extended his contract with the club until the end of the 2028 season. The 29-year-old was the top run-scorer in last season's T20 Blast, scoring 591 runs at an average just below 50. During the Finals Day at Edgbaston, he made history by becoming the first player to score two fifties in a Finals Day, scoring 88 not out in the semi-final and 75 in the final. Weatherley has played 211 matches for Hampshire since his debut in 2016 and is their third-highest T20 run-scorer. He expressed his commitment to the club and ambition to win more trophies, particularly in white ball cricket. He was also signed by Birmingham Phoenix for last summer's Hundred competition.
