Mohammad Kaif Advises Shreyas Iyer to Maintain VVS Laxman's Successful Batting Strategy
Indian T20I captain Shreyas Iyer, currently leading the team at the 2026 Asian Games, has been advised by former cricketer Mohammad Kaif to continue using the playing XI strategy implemented by coach VVS Laxman. The team, under Laxman's guidance, used a combination of batters including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan effectively. Kaif suggests that even after returning to India and transitioning to head coach Gautam Gambhir, Iyer should retain this batting combination as it has proven successful. Kaif highlighted the importance of a right-left opening combination with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, while also ensuring Sooryavanshi is included in the team without being benched. Ishan Kishan’s flexibility in the batting order adds depth to the lineup, strengthening the team’s potential for victory.
