Parthiv Patel declines BCCI chief selector position due to financial reasons
Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel was expected to become the next chairman of selectors after Ajit Agarkar stepped down. Despite being interested, Patel did not apply for the role due to financial considerations. The BCCI offered an annual salary of Rs 3 crore, but Patel's combined earnings from coaching Gujarat Titans and commentary, estimated between Rs 7 to 9 crore, far exceeded this. Accepting the selector position would have meant giving up these other income sources. Former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has spoken out, suggesting that the BCCI should raise the selector salary to attract top former players to such important roles given the restrictions and responsibilities involved.
