Suryakumar Yadav emerges as a candidate for Mumbai's white-ball captaincy after omission from Ranji squad
Suryakumar Yadav, despite being excluded from Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad due to absence from pre-season training and no red-ball cricket involvement, remains in contention for Mumbai's white-ball captaincy. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) selected Musheer Khan for the Ranji opener, finding it unfair to drop him for Yadav. If Shreyas Iyer, Mumbai’s regular white-ball captain and India's T20I leader, is unavailable, Yadav could be considered as captain for white-ball domestic tournaments. Yadav has had a challenging year, having been removed from India's T20I captaincy and squad despite leading India to a T20 World Cup victory. Meanwhile, Siddhesh Lad will captain Mumbai's Ranji team, which includes players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan.
