Tamil Nadu announces 16-player squad for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2026-27, appoints Sai Kishore as captain
The Tamil Nadu cricket board has named its full 16-member squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2026-27 season, with Sai Kishore appointed as captain. The limited-overs T20 tournament will run from November 14 to December 6, 2026. Tamil Nadu, previously a strong contender but fell short last season, aims to perform better with key players like Sai Kishore, Tushar Raheja, Natayan Jagadeesan, Sachin Baby, and Varun Chakravarthy. The tournament also provides players a platform to secure or retain their spots ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League, where several players' positions are under scrutiny. Tamil Nadu's fixtures begin with matches against Railways on November 14 and continue through November 26, with knockout stages commencing from November 30.
