Wasim Jaffer Questions Auqib Nabi's ODI Selection and World Cup Prospects
Former India opener Wasim Jaffer expressed doubts about Auqib Nabi's inclusion in India's plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup following his maiden ODI call-up for the upcoming series against the West Indies. Nabi was selected after frontline pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh joined the Asian Games, with the 29-year-old joining a bowling lineup led by Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. Jaffer noted that Nabi mainly specializes in red-ball cricket, questioning his white-ball credentials and stating that others like Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Siraj, and Bumrah are more likely to be preferred. He also stated surprise at Nabi's ODI selection given his less impressive List A record, and hoped this call-up would not affect Nabi's chances in the forthcoming Test series against New Zealand starting November 19.
