Will Jacks recovers from emergency appendicitis surgery to lead England cricket victory

England all-rounder Will Jacks was set to celebrate his mother's 60th birthday in Edinburgh last month when he fell ill with what he thought was a stomach bug. He was quickly diagnosed with appendicitis, underwent emergency surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and was given a four-week recovery period. Despite this, Jacks returned early to captain a warm-up match against Sri Lanka on 11 September and participated in all three T20 games in England's series sweep against Sri Lanka. On 23 September, he took his best-ever one-day international bowling figures of 5-22 and scored an important 46 not out in a match at Chester-le-Street. Jacks has been rebuilding his core strength post-surgery and continues to grow as a key player and vice-captain for England's white-ball teams. He is preparing for upcoming tours and tournaments, including the 50-over World Cup next autumn.
