Yashasvi Jaiswal Developing Wicketkeeping Skills Ahead of Mumbai's 2026-27 Ranji Trophy Campaign
Yashasvi Jaiswal, a key Indian Test opener, is preparing to take on wicketkeeping duties for Mumbai in their 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season starting October 11 against Chandigarh at Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai captain Siddhesh Lad revealed Jaiswal has been dedicating extra training time to wicketkeeping, a skill that could boost his value for both Mumbai and the Indian national team. Jaiswal, who has played 31 Tests and several limited-overs internationals, currently does not keep wickets in international matches but is practicing seriously to add this discipline to his game. Lad highlighted that although Jaiswal’s availability for the Ranji season is limited due to India A commitments, his experience will benefit the Mumbai team and younger players. Jaiswal’s strong Test record includes 2,612 runs at an average of 47.49 with seven centuries and thirteen half-centuries in 57 innings.
